Alicia's First Meal

We gave Alicia rice cereal for the first time the other night. It went well and she seemed to enjoy it. At first she seemed curious as we put it in her mouth... Then she waited anxiously for each bite...

and eventually it just became a battle for control of the spoon!!

Pictures from our Chicago visit

I just wanted to share a couple of the pics from our recent trip with you...
Alicia found her feet while we were in Chicago, and she has been enjoying playing with them ever since. She got to see her Great Grandparents...her she is with Great Grandma Carol
She practiced being a commuter and holding on...
She enjoyed her visit with her only Great Grandpa!!

and we were able to get a shot of four generations of women in our family!!

Missing Daddy

Alicia and I are in Chicago. We have been meeting with DJ's and photographers and running all over the place. She had a runny nose at the beginning of the trip that was putting her in a terrible mood (this is the first ailment that she has ever had!), but seems to have gotten over it. The big bath tub seems to terrify her, so we are eager to get home where she can splash around in her baby bath. She misses having daddy around to give her a bath and play with her in the evening, and get her up when mommy is being lazy! Today, Alicia got to have a lot of quality time with Grandma Linda so that I could meet with people in peace and focus on the task at hand. She has been a very good girl and even took a bottle from Grandma Linda today.
There was a surprise wedding shower for me last night!! I received some great things and was very surprised!! So, thanks to Cindy for being such a great host, and to Becky, Carla, Gail, Grandma, Mom, Shelly, Rachel, Anna, Amber and Kristen, and also a special thanks to Jenny who made it out even with the party she is planning and being in the middle of a move. I love you all and it was great to see each of you. Thank you so much for everything!!
Other than that, the trip has been a success. I think that I decided on a photographer and a dj, and Grandma Lindberg is putting in overtime to make alterations to my dress before I head out of town.
Sorry, no pics, I'll post a few when I get home, this computer scares me a little!!

My First Mother's Day

Well, it is the end of a great first Mother's Day. Being a mom this year definitely changed my view of the day...and I actually think it should be more of a mother's week and not just a day!! Alex got a card for me, and Alicia gave me one too!! It even had scribbly little squiggles in it that she made!! We started with church this morning, and then went to IKEA to get a rack for the kitchen, because I kept turning the oven on with our oversized pots in it and not realizing it until I could smell the plastic handles burning...so, we had to hang the pots. It was nice to walk through the store, and we felt like we got a lot of exercise since you walk several miles through their maze before you can get out of there!! Then we came home to relax and I worked on wedding invitations (they're getting put in the mail tomorrow!!). Then, we went to dinner with the family...Alex's family of course! It was a good time catching up with his parents who just got back from Germany, and of course great to see Vane, Silvia, Ken, Jen and Abuela as well:) After that Alex, Alicia and I swung by the beach and took some pics. Alicia saw pics at the beach on her cousins blog, so she wanted them too!! She thought that H+M's slides looked a little too crazy for her though! So, enjoy the pics!! I tried to add more pics, but it is taking forever, and I'm tired...so maybe later!! Love you all, I had a great day, and I love being a MOM!!

Sorry, I don't know why these are so small???

The Bread Princess

Alicia likes to be close to us during dinner. When she was less mobile we let her lay on the floor on a blanket next to the table (this resulted in a large glass of Pepsi being dumped on her once...oops, I'm such a clutz!). Now, we have to be a little more creative, we let her sit in her different chairs and most recently she has been strong enough to sit like a big girl in a highchair...even though she isn't eating any solids still. She enjoys playing in her seat with her toys.

Unfortunately for her, her daddy likes to play with her while she is in the chair. Tonight he made her our little bread princess...

She wasn't very happy about it!!

but, she always loves playing in the bathtub!!

My Little Angel

Ok, sorry it took so long for entry #2, but honestly, things are pretty boring around here. I wanted to upload a little video, but haven't been able to master that yet. Alicia is still rolling like crazy, an old pro now, and starting to figure out how to maneuver her way towards things that she wants. She was able to reach the bottom of her exersaucer this week even without the book that I normally put under her feet!! She's getting so big!!

We've had a great weekend here, excellent weather and a lot to do. Yesterday we went to some friends and watched the Mayweather/De La Hoya fight...honestly, I couldn't care less about the fight (big surprise!) but we had fun with friends. Today after church we took Alicia to her second Angel's game. It was fun and Alicia was good, but the Angels lost (they lost to the Chicago White Sox though, so it was kind of like a little victory for me, but if Alex asks...I'm strictly an Angels fan!)

Alex is leaving for a couple of days this week, so I'll have a little extra time to work on my sewing projects and wedding invitations...but really I'll just be missing him!! My trip to Chicago is quickly approaching so I'm looking forward to that, and so is Alicia!! She misses all of her Chicago friends and family.
