These days are long days...

Sorry that this blog is so late. I started it early on Saturday, and am just getting a chance to finish...you'll understand when you read it. Also, I have been trying repeatedly to add pictures and it won't go through, so after a lot of wasted time I am giving up for now!

I've gotten spoiled with Alex being able to work out of the house. Over the past year he has been able to stay home late in the morning and come back early, and even though he is upstairs working, it is just nice to have him here when I wake up and see him randomly throughout the day when he can spare a second. With his new position every day is seeming extremely long. He is working out of an office that is far away, so he is leaving before Alicia or I wake up in the morning, and getting home late. I guess this is what most families are used to, but for me it has made every day seem really long.

Oh my gosh!!...I just asked Alex to go check on Alicia, she was supposed to be napping, but we could hear her playing...I put her down without pants on, and she took a HUGE poop...she managed to stick her hands into the sides of her diaper and get it all over herself...she must have been up there playing in it for a while, because it was dried and caked all over everything...I think she thought it was fingerpaint. WHat followed was Alex bathing Alicia while I changed sheets and scrubbed crib bars. I know I should have taken a picture, but trust me, it wasn't very pretty!!

...and then it got even uglier...and messier... After the poop incident, we let ALicia play for a while and eat dinner, she didn't seem too hungry, but it was a little early for her to eat. She was still really fussy, so we put her down for a nap (she hadn't slept during her first nap..she had just been toobusy playing with poo to sleep). After an hour we woke her up so she wouldn't be awake all night, but she was so cranky I took her back upstairs to lay her down again. I offered her a bottle, she pushed it away....and then... out it came....and by it, I mean everything!! She just started puking and puking. She and I were covered and to keep it off the floor I ran and stood in the bathtub while it just kept coming out. After Alex helped us both to get all cleaned up, it happened all over again. She continued to puke every 15-20 minutes for the next 4-5 hours which ultimately landed us in the ER. She has been a very down baby for the last few days, but that has been a good thing because I followed suit a little less violently on Monday (and without the ER visit). It was a lot easier for me to recover and care for us both were her a little slower than normal. ...but now daddy is not feeling so hot...

My Amazing Husband...

I've been meaning to post the news (which if you are reading my blog, you probably already know). Alex has now been with UPS for a little over a year and a half and in a huge company, he has not gone unnoticed! He has been extremely successful in one of the most visible territories in the country, has received recognition multiple times for his performance, was chosen to go to China for a week, and now has just received a huge promotion to a new position!! Basically he has been selling freight so far, and now he is selling warehousing and distribution services...in other words, he was selling something hard to explain, and now he sells services nearly impossible to explain. He is going from Senior Account Manager, Supply Chain Solutions to Director of Business Development, Global Distribution Warehousing...sounds impressive doesn't it! I know that no one is more impressed that Alicia and I with our favorite man. He has come a long way in a short time and does a great job taking care of us. We are so lucky to have someone with so much determination and drive to be successful...and he's really attractive to top it all off. Alex we love you and are so proud of you.

A White Christmas...a few days late!

The Christmas season got a little crazy! On Christmas Eve we celebrated with the Lopez side here in CA. We had a great Cuban dinner and shared gifts and had a great time until 1 in the morning...even Alicia who refused to even consider going to sleep while there was a party going on. When we did finally get home and get her to sleep Alex and I stayed up talking and packing for my trip to Chicago with Alicia. On Christmas morning, Alicia opened some gifts from Alex and I, then we went to Denny's for breakfast...after sleeping in that was really all that we had time for before we had to head to the airport. Alicia and I flew on Christmas day, and Alex joined us later in the week. The four hour flight couldn't have gone any worse. The only redeeming factor was that it was a lot of families flying and not business travellers, so everyone that wasn't in my shoes with the screaming baby, had been there recently!! Seriously, she screamed 90% of the flight...I was actually hoping that she would pass out, because following each spell is a period of about 15 minutes of calm...but she just kept screaming!! We arrived very late Tuesday night and were a very tired pair! Wednesday we just sat around and took some good naps and waited for the real party to begin...we didn't have to wait long because Charlie, Lindsey, Hannah, Megan and Kate all arrived that evening! Alicia was very excited to have her cousins around. She is very social and loved to have the big girls to play with and just watch. Just watching them run around was enough to make even Alicia tired, and just listening to their feet running on the floor above my head in the morning was enough to make me tired!! Alicia also enjoyed having baby Kate around, and repeatedly touched her own head and then pointed at the baby indicating that she wanted to touch the baby's head, and a very patient Aunt Lindsey repeatedly obliged making a very happy Kate (who loves to have her head rubbed) and a very happy Alicia (who found great joy in rubbing her head!) We all relaxed and played for a few days together, and then Alex arrived and Uncle Wes came over and it became a true Christmas celebration. Saturday and Sunday were filled with Christmas festivities with all of the extended family, and Monday was spent relaxing with Great Grandma and Grandpa Lindberg and the Deetjen's before a very early flight on Tuesday morning. Over all, Alex and I agreed that it was a great trip!! The best part was definitely watching Alicia bond with her cousins as well as her Aunt Lindsey, Uncle Charlie, and Uncle Wes. Here are a few pics that I took on Saturday morning.
