Holy cow!! I think that I've mentioned that we are loving our house! But over the past week there is nothing that could have topped just having our own place with AC. It doesn't matter that it is 110 outside when you can sit inside with it at a cool 75...I know that my brother and sister-in-law would still consider this too hot, but this is a temperature where Alex can stay comfortable with a fan on, and I stay comfortable with a sweatshirt on. So, 75 is our compromise...and we don't feel like ridiculous energy gluttons. The 110 is not an exaggeration either, Alex's car said it was 112 the other day! When you open the door it just feels like a dragon is breathing fiery breath right in your face. Personally, with the state of CA legalizing gay marriage right in the midst of it, I feel that we are just so close to hell that we can feel the heat.
The heat is putting a little damper on our home repair projects. We have a ton that needs to be done outside, but you can't be out building retaining walls and painting fences. Just sitting in the shade last week sent me to urgent care for heat stroke.
We are looking forward to my dad coming out in a week or so to help us get some projects done. We have a good list for him, but we'll leave a little time for him to enjoy Alicia as well.
Alicia amazes us every day with the little things that she does. She has a blanket that she has suddenly become very attached to and would take with her everywhere if she could. Since she picked a solid white blanket I try to encourage that it wants to stay in bed, but it is very cute. She throws it over her head and runs around the house like a little ghost. She ran straight into a wall today and didn't cry or remove the blanket or anything, she just changed directions. I bought her a book about being a big sister this week and she likes it, but we have a lot of work to do. In the book the big sister sleeps in a big girl bed, wears big girl underwear, and doesn't have bottles. Sadly, I am just now trying to make myself commit to losing the bottles, our biggest excitement with potty training was a poopy smear across the seat that I think scared her more than anything, and well...I think that she is very content in her crib right now, so who am I to take that away yet. At least I have till the end of January to get some of these things in line. She spent this evening with her Abuelos so that Alex and I could have a little date. It is nice that we are still close enough to see them and utilize their free childcare!! We love them and so does Alicia, we appreciate it so much and we know that they have a blast watching her, and we do enjoy a little bit of time by ourselves.

Now presenting...
the amazing Alex Lopez!! Alex closed his first business this past week in his new position. This position has required a lot of new knowledge for Alex, and it is pretty amazing that he has closed business in such a short period of time, but of course...Alicia and I already knew he was amazing!
Alicia has also been proving to us how amazing she is lately. We went to her 18 month appt. this week and she weighs 22Ibs and is 31 inches tall. This puts her in the 20th percentile for weight and the 30th for height...with a head circumference in the 60th percentile (this is down from the 80th, so she is finally growing into that big head!) She is learning new words every day and has been loving The Ear Book (Dr. Seuss). Some of her favorite new words are bubble, nice, and helping...she has also been practicing name recognition with her cousins pictures and can say all their names clearly and makes a daring attempt at saying uncle Charlie, but it comes out like ungle Ali. She loves to run around her new house and play in her own playroom...and Alex and I enjoy not having all of her toys in the living room or having to worry about her falling down the stairs.
We are all enjoying the new house, we feel like we have a lot of space to move around and grow into, and we find it very relaxing...even with all the little projects that we have been working on.

Finally...some pictures
I'm finally adding some much needed pictures. I'll have to add real house pictures soon, because I lost the ones that I had and haven't taken more yet. This is Alicia enjoying a bubble bath in her new bathroom!! She loves her new bathroom...but she really loves bubbles!!
You don't get a real feel for the colors or how cute her bathroom is, but this is me admiring my handiwork...these pictures were mostly taken on my phone, so not the best quality or colors.
This is an old picture of Alicia trying on a flower headband at her favorite store...Target!
This is a picture that I took of Kate when I was in Michigan in April....just a little late, and I hear she is growing up fast waving and getting teeth, oh boy!!
The girls were lined up in this picture to have Aunt Lindsey do their hair...the trip was a major turn in Alicia's openness to wearing bows and clips and we are very thankful to Aunt Lindsey for that!
The girls enjoyed emptying the cabinet with Grandma Peggy and making beautiful music!
Grandma Carol's birthday celebration was a lot of fun, and it was a great chance for Alicia and I to get to see more family.
Here are a couple of pictures of our new bedroom set
I've been a little handywoman since we moved...I'm adding plumber, painter, carpenter, and screen maker to my resume to name a few.
Alex is getting old, so he had to make sure that he was well stretched before he got into the heavy lifting on moving day.
Our backyard might not be pretty, but we can still have fun. Alex laughs at Alicia and I, because when he is working at home in the middle of the day, he sees Alicia and I in our suits out by the pool with our umbrella all set up like we are on vacation or something. Alicia loves her pool and we are spending a lot more time outside.
Here she is coloring with her new chalk on the driveway...isn't she just the sweetest little thing!

Alex has been working hard at reviving our front lawn...this picture doesn't do the lawn justice, but I thought he looked funny mowing up our little hill...

this was his first time mowing the lawn...and it was all business!! It's a good thing that he mowed when he did, because the next day we got a notice from our association that they had noticed our lawn was "dead and had not been mowed." We assured them that we are working hard to resolve these issues.
Katsumoto has been adjusting well to his new home, and spends most of the day in Alex's office doing something like this!! And Alicia has been perfecting her meow since he came.
It was a great day when our new sofa arrived and we were excited to have room to stretch out...Alex and I had been cuddling in one recliner to watch tv, because it was the only piece of living room furniture we had.

Sorry for the randomness of these pictures, but I wanted to include all I had.

On a much different note, now that we are moved in...we are looking forward to the next big thing...a brother or sister for Alicia. I'm not sure, but I think he/she will be arriving in January. I'll have more details on that later this week.
